Radiating with vibrant blues, yellows, and bold strokes of red, Rosencrantz III showcases Mengle’s dynamic approach to abstraction. At first glance, the viewer’s eye is drawn to the lower left portion of the canvas, where an energetic burst of crimson brushwork fans outward, evoking the sensation of a sunburst or a swirling vortex. This gesture animates the composition, setting up a dialogue between the warm reds and oranges below and the cool, cascading blues above.
